Ray Lil Black: From Law Student to International Porn Star

Speaking to FRIDAY reporters with a slightly troubled yet playful expression is Ray Lil Black (26), a porn star who enjoys immense popularity worldwide. She boasts approximately four million followers across her social media platforms, the majority of whom are from America, Europe, and Southeast Asia. Due to her distinctive name and the fluent English she showcases in her work, she is often mistaken for an Asian-American. However, she is actually a pure Japanese talent from Osaka who graduated from the law faculty of a renowned private university.

Early Life and Education

"I attended an all-girls school in the Osaka prefecture for middle and high school, and my parents were extremely strict. Even after entering university, my curfew was 10 PM. While everyone around me was out having fun and dating, I was coming home alone. I didn't have any friends and had never been to a group dating event. That environment was tough, so I took a leave of absence from university and, like running away from home, left Japan."

Journey into the AV Industry

Ray discovered the AV (adult video) industry in 2017 while studying abroad in Germany.

"I had to relearn English and German from scratch, and at first, I was earning living expenses by working in restaurants. But that wasn't enough... I decided to appear in adult videos as a way to make some extra pocket money. My first shoot was a threesome, and only the photographer/actor, a woman, and I were present. Since there were just the three of us, I thought probably no one would watch it."

However, this video went viral on the highly popular video site PornHub, garnering millions of views.

"Looking back now, I'm glad about it, but at the time, I was really panicked. When a friend asked, 'Haven't you been in an AV?', my knees started shaking. I was trying to become a politician, after all (laughs)."

Rise to Fame

Since her shocking debut, Ray's videos have amassed millions to tens of millions of views. Sales of her paid content have skyrocketed, and she has become a regular at American AV awards.

"Unlike popular AV actresses in Japan who have makeup artists and managers, I don't have that kind of support. I enter the set carrying a large bag by myself, do my own makeup, and prepare all the soap for the shower and hairbrushes on my own. So, I'd like to appear in Japanese AV as well, but I don't think I'd become popular (laughs)."

Financial Success and Lifestyle

Revenue from her official paid fan club, where she posts original videos and photos, is also tremendous.

"For $10 a month (about 1,400 yen), the membership is in the thousands. I don't check my bank balance, so I'm not exactly sure, but my monthly income is sometimes in the tens of millions, and my annual income is just under 300 million yen. I earn a lot and use that money to travel the world. Like a tuna, I can't stay still. I live in the Netherlands now, but last year I stayed in Jamaica, Serbia, and Romania. This year, I went to Brazil. In new places, I force myself to experience new stimuli. When my desires increase, I recruit staff and start shooting."
